My favorite brand
I have NOT received free or discounted product for this review. I have tried many astaxanthin products and this is my favorite. I see there are some bad reviews. I have had no bad experiences myself. I take the 12mg daily dose based on research showing this is the therapeutic level to possibly prevent alzheimer’s disease; my grandfather and father both got real bad. I have tried other brands and got fishy burps, but never with this brand. I’ve been taking it for a few years now and as some reviewers have stated two years ago the coconut oil was strong and noticeable when smelling the bottle. This is not the case anylonger; however also true in regards to coconut oil found for food consumption on the retail market, some brands actually taste and smell like coconut and others have no smell and taste at all while still being good quality products. So my guess is that this company must have switched the brand of coconut oil they use in their gel caps. That doesn’t mean they are now bad or less healthy. These are still, in my opinion, based on trying about 15 other brands at a price level of $25 – $15 per 60-50 ct bottle, the best astaxanthin product out there. The only reason I buy another brand is due to my second favorite brand sometimes having a price dip down to $20 per 60 ct bottle.This is a high quality brand and I also take other products they sell and like them just as much as this item.

Apparent sun protection
I began taking it about 2 weeks before traveling to tropical beach cities, where I was in the sun much of the day without sunscreen. I turned slightly red, but did not burn, although I was careful not to overexpose myself.
