Healthy Korean food, for every North American kitchen.

I’m Gabriel, a certified Korean cuisine cook who spent years inside the Korean food industry, and who now shops at Costco and H Mart like everyone else. This site has one job: to introduce healthy Korean food to North America and share delicious, healthy experiences together. Delicious first. Traditional always. Healthy by design.

Every week we do the same simple thing: one jar, one dinner. One Korean pantry jar (gochujang, doenjang, kimchi, sesame oil) and one weeknight meal you can make in about 20 minutes, with the protein and fiber your body is asking for. No special equipment. Nothing you can’t buy within a short drive.

Pick your path

1. New to Korean food? Start with kimchi.

Which jar to buy (and which to skip), how to use it beyond the side dish, and the 20-minute kimchi fried rice that makes converts.

2. Here for gut health? Go deeper into jang.

Doenjang, gochujang, ganjang and the living cultures behind them. How Korean grandmothers kept a healthy gut long before anyone said “probiotic.”

3. Want to cook what the chefs cook?

The chefs, TV cooks and celebrities who can’t stop talking about Korean food, and a Korean cook’s healthier take on the dishes they rave about.

The Korean Pantry, Explained is an 8-page guide to the five jars worth owning, where to buy them in North America, and what to make first. It arrives with the Sunday Table, our one letter a week: one jar, one dinner, one reader question answered.

Say hello

This site is a table, not a lecture. Every post ends with a question, and I answer the comments myself. The ones that come up most become a You Asked post. And when you cook something from here, show us: Share Your Table, or tag #MyKoreanPantry on Instagram.

Your turn: what’s the one Korean ingredient you’ve been curious about but haven’t bought yet? Tell me in the comments and I’ll point you to the right first recipe.
